Dear Floor Jawers (and a poem)

So lately I’ve fancied myself quite the poet. Although this is not my forte, I have been enjoying it. So much so that I recently received “poem of the week” on http://www.poetrypotion.com when I submitted on a whim. Thank you for the tip Es.  I miss you, girl.

Check it out here: http://poetrypotion.com/a-walk-by-jerome-cornelius/

Here is another poem I wrote. I thought it would be insensitive to post it last week.

Towers Tumbling

It happened a year ago,

but you don’t remember?

I don’t blame you,

but I do.

September 11

Two towers, tumbling down.

Instead we are in Cape Town,

Green Point, crisis talks.

Two individuals, hard as concrete,

pillars of feelings,

love lost,

torn limbs,

denuded hearts,

illusion starts.

Over

coffee and danish, we try to

salvage;

a Sunday afternoon.

But no planes headed for us.

It was a year ago,

when we tried to stop the flames.

Fireballs breathing from

the depths of us.

We should have jumped

from the umpteenth storey

and saved our stories instead.

But our tales live on

as we talk on.

Two towers don’t tumble

like 10 years before.

But you and I forever,

a sealed and shattered door.
